3 Then Joshua rose early in the morning and they set out from Shittim. And they came to the Jordan, he and all the people of Israel, and lodged there before they passed over. 2 At the end of three days the officers went through the camp 3 and commanded the people, “As soon as you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God being carried by the Levitical priests, then you shall set out from your place and follow it. 4 Yet there shall be a distance between you and it, about 2,000 cubits in length.

2 And Joshua the son of Nun sent two men secretly from Shittim as spies, saying, “Go, view the land, especially Jericho.” And they went and came into the house of a prostitute whose name was Rahab and lodged there. 2 And it was told to the king of Jericho, “Behold, men of Israel have come here tonight to search out the land.”

1 After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, 2 “Moses my servant is dead. Now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, into the land that I am giving to them, to the people of Israel. 3 Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you, just as I promised to Moses. 4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the

42 Then Job answered the Lord and said: 2  “I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted. 3  ‘Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?’ Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know. 4  ‘Hear, and I will speak;

41  “Can you draw out Leviathan with a fishhook or press down his tongue with a cord? 2  Can you put a rope in his nose or pierce his jaw with a hook? 3  Will he make many pleas to you? Will he speak to you soft words?

19  “Do you give the horse his might? Do you clothe his neck with a mane? 20  Do you make him leap like the locust? His majestic snorting is terrifying. 21  He paws in the valley and exults in his strength; he goes out to meet the weapons.

31  “Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades or loose the cords of Orion? 32  Can you lead forth the Mazzaroth in their season, or can you guide the Bear with its children? 33  Do you know the ordinances of the heavens? Can you establish their rule on the earth?

38 Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind and said: 2  “Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge? 3  Dress for action like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me.
