Home > 2020 Vision > Vision #3 – Pastoral Support

A denomination in which every congregation receives regular and consistent pastoral support

Component Lead: Pastor David Wendel (Mission District Deans, Pastor Phil Gagnon, Commission on Theology & Doctrine)
Immediate Goal: Pastoral support for every congregation by 2021

  1. Active ordained pastors serving in multiple parishes
  2. Retired pastors serving in part-time and shorter-term roles
  3. Partnerships with Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC) and Anglican Church in North America (ACNA) congregations
  4. Request theological framework from the Commission on Theology & Doctrine by Spring 2020
  5. Models provided for alternative worship and training of lay leaders (identified by congregations) to serve in Word and Sacrament ministry
  6. Consider a diaconal ministry and/or licensed lay ministers to support this vision component
  7. Training for preaching and administration of the Sacraments are both equally important
  8. Provide employment for pastors serving in new starts and/or tent-making ministries
