Home > Recognized Ministries

The NALC’s Recognized Ministries are independent organizations whose mission aligns with the NALC mission strategy. At a minimum, they must meet the following four requirements:

  1. Have a connection with the Lutheran church
  2. Have appropriate oversight and accountability
  3. Demonstrate financial integrity and stability
  4. Have an evangelical focus

How to Become a Recognized Ministry

To become a Recognized Ministry, organizations can apply by submitting an application. Applicants will receive a link to the application following consultation with the Missions office. The Mission Specialist will learn about the ministry and determine what category of ministry they fit, and then send them the link to the application. All Recognized Ministries must be a non-profit 501(c)(3) and be an independent organization, rather than based in a congregation.

Vetting Process for Recognized Ministries

Applications will be vetted by the Mission vetting team. If approved, they will be recommended for approval by the Executive Council. After being approved by the Executive Council, the ministry’s information will be added to our website.

Updates from Recognized Ministries

Updates from Recognized Ministries will be requested at least once a year to confirm that the information on the website is accurate. The Mission Specialist will send requests for updates. Recognized Ministries may also have displays at NALC convocations at no cost.

Overall, the NALC is committed to ensuring that Recognized Ministries share its values and beliefs, and meet certain standards. Through the vetting process, the NALC works to support and promote organizations that are making a Kingdom impact on the world, while staying true to its mission and values.

“And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

– Matthew 28:18-20 ESV
