“Sharing the spiritual bread and material bread” is Pueblo de Dios’ mission. The congregation serves and reaches out to low-income people in Compton, California, many of whom are Hispanic. “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free and to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor” (Luke 4:17-19 NIV).
Pueblo de Dios is a partner under special circumstance. They are an ELCA congregation that has received NALC grant funds. Their building serves as a tool for ministry in their community with their holistic approach to mission.
