The Convocation will begin at 10:00am and finish by 3:00pm.

There will be a closing service of Holy Communion at 3:00pm for those who are able to stay.

NALC General Secretary, Pastor Mark Chavez will be our keynote speaker. Come, learn more, and ask questions about:

  • the NALC’s Seminary system,
  • the growth of the NALC,
  • the Discipleship Initiative with Navigators,
  • ecumenical relationships with the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania, and other church bodies.

You will also hear about new developments in the Iowa Mission District (new congregations, new pastors) and get updates from Lutherans for Life and United Marriage Encounter.

We have a small amount of business (accept treasurer’s report, approve budget, elect two to Mission District Council—one clergy, one lay).  From each congregation’s contingent, two lay delegates and pastor can vote on the business stuff.

But the biggest share of the day will be hearing Pastor Chavez, getting the latest info on the NALC and Iowa Mission District and further opportunities for growing the mission and ministry of your congregation, having a chance to give your own input, and meeting and fellowshipping with fellow NALC members in Iowa.

If you can, please email Pastor Staley with an estimate of how many may be coming from your church to help in planning for the lunch (free-will offering) : [email protected].
