Every year, Youth Encounter holds a National Youth Event in the United States called Impact (www.youthencounter.org/event/impact/) This year it is being held in Cleveland, Ohio in June. This, of course, doesn’t work for Canadian kids who are still in school. Here’s where it gets exciting. IMPACT is coming to Alberta, Canada!!
Now for the details:
The Youth Impact Event will be held at The Goldeye Centre, (www.goldeye.org) which is located west of Nordegg, Alberta. It is nestled in the beautiful Rocky Mountains and is situated beside the pristine Goldeye Lake. This event is for students (those who have completed grade 8 to grade 12). Older youth are encouraged to come as LITE’s, Leaders In Training & Example. The cost of the 4-day Youth Impact Event, which includes all meals, accommodation and programming, will be $350 CAN.
The Goldeye facility includes a Koda high ropes challenge course with a giant swing and dual zip line, a low ropes challenge course, canoeing, fishing, swimming, hiking, 32’ climbing wall, and a sports field. These are some of the many activities that will be available.
The dates (August 24-27) were chosen for those students who are finishing up their summer jobs. The Youth Impact Event would not interfere with outdoor ministry programming, so that camp counselors are also able to join us for an uplifting, recharging, relaxing few days before they head into their fall responsibilities. What an awesome way to begin the fall!!
