Today’s readings: 1 Kings 13:1-10; Philippians 1:1-11; Mark 15:40-47
A prophet went to King Jeroboam and would only say and do what the Lord commanded. The word of God through this man of God was not at all pleasing to the king. Yet, the prophet was not afraid. Paul was in prison. But, he was not afraid. He continued to proclaim the good news. He continued to pray that others might grow in grace and in love as they grew in the knowledge of the Lord. Joseph of Arimathea was a member of the same council that had played a huge part in the crucifixion of Jesus. He was not afraid to go to Pilate to ask for the body of Jesus. He boldly requested the body so that he could give Jesus’ body a proper burial according to Jewish custom. He was willing to give up his own grave so that Jesus’ body would have a final resting place.
These men were not afraid of things of this world. They were able to stand in the face of adversity. Their love and devotion to God overflowed so that they were able to stand and serve the Lord.
Prayer: May your love overcome our fears, Lord, that we might worship and serve you with our whole hearts and souls. Amen.

Thank you Pastor. Today, many shy away from confrontation like this, usually because we might be embarrassed by our lack of knowledge or wisdom. We fail to believe that Christ Himself will guide us if we submit to Him and as for His intervention.
Pastor, thank you for you pointing out again this passage. I am not afraid to stand up for what I believe. My Savior gave His precious blood for me and has been with me all my life.
