hebrews4-16

Genesis 8:6-22; Hebrews 4:14-5:6; John 2:23-3:15

As missionaries, we often find ourselves searching for dry land after being set adrift to bring the message of salvation. To you, God provides firm ground.

As wayward sheep, we long for clear direction to safety and to find the fold. For you, God lights the path and guides the way.

As those blinded by worldly success and who elevate their agenda over and against God’s intended purpose, God provides you a way to start over — to be born again.

By grace alone and in spite of our stubbornness, circumstance, or situation, God sends a clear message — new life begins “in, with, and under” Jesus Christ. He alone is our firm dry ground, our King, and our only path to salvation and new life.

Jesus is Good News for those who wait for flood waters to recede.
Jesus is Good News for those who are oppressed by earthly kings.
Jesus is Good News for those who only search within to find the answer to the question: How can these things be?

Prayer: Lord, when I doubt you and your grace, help me to keep Jesus Christ the “main thing” in my life. Amen.

Today’s devotion was written by David J. Smith, Chaplain, Indiana Department of Correction, Pendleton, IN.
