The mission of Guyanese Outreach (GO) is to support the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Guyana, South America, by working with the Guyanese people to strengthen values and enhance their own culture by assisting them to meet their spiritual and physical needs.

Founded in 1994, GO assists pastors, provides education, develops and trains Guyanese in job skills, and sends humanitarian aid. GO has recently completed the construction of a three-story Youth Learning Center where it teaches after school functional literacy classes, as well as computer math classes to the children of the villages. GO’s ministry is supported by Lutheran congregations in the US. They has worked with mission teams from US congregations who have taught Alpha, vacation Bible school, an abstinence program, etc.

Guyanese Outreach has a long relationship with Emmanuel Lutheran Church, located in Skeldon. A missionary from Ethiopia spent one year at Emmanuel helping in different areas. GO has also worked with Living Waters Church in the village for several community-based programs.

In June 2020, GO began a successful Community Food Basket Program to feed the poorest of the poor in their villages and continues to do so during the COVID-19 crisis. GO is also developing a pilot Community Gardens Program to teach the local villagers how to plant and care for small vegetable gardens that will create a long-term sustainable food source.
