2014 Convocation of the Iowa Mission District at Emmanuel Lutheran, Grafton, Iowa (north of Mason City), on Saturday, October 11, with registration/coffee at 9:00am and opening Worship with Holy Communion at 9:30a.m.

Pr. David Wendel, Assistant to the Bishop for Ministry and Ecumenism will be our preacher and keynote presenter.  Pr. Herb Hafermann, 50+ years missionary in Tanzania, will also be with us to speak about the opportunities for congregations to develop a global mission partnership with the Lutheran Junior Seminary at Morogoro in Tanzania as part of the NALC’s agreement of understanding with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania.  There will be some display tables from NALC partners like Sola Publishing.  We will also take time for break out sessions (forums) among which Pr. Wendel will lead one and I and other pastors in the NALC-Navigators Discipleship Initiative will share what we have learned and what opportunities there are for other congregations to benefit or participate in the initiative.

We also have a small bit of business to conduct—approving the treasurer’s report and the proposed budget and elections for dean, secretary, lay member and ordained member of the mission district council.

For purposes of planning for lunch (and coffee and other good things), please contact BOTH Pr. Ken Kimball, Dean, at [email protected]  and the host pastor, Pr. Solveig Zamzow, at [email protected], with an estimated number of how many might be coming from your congregation, at your earliest convenience.
