China Service Ventures
China Service Ventures (CSV) operates under the motto “Not to be served, but to serve.” Its mission is to improve the quality of life for the rural poor in China, through ventures of education, health, community and good news. The organization works closely with local Chinese officials, focusing especially on poor, rural children in Henan Province, one of the most highly populated and poorest areas of China. CSV facilitates the teaching of English to college age students in China, provides summer camps to middle and high school and college students, furnishes scholarships to rural elementary, middle school and high school students whose parents work away in distant cities, teaches the Bethel Series in Chinese churches, and works in local communities in a variety of ways. CSV was founded in 2000 by grandchildren of some of the earliest Lutheran missionaries in China. Its annual budget of approximately $380,000.00 is funded through contributions from congregations and individuals.
